Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden title since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from spring of 2023.

The win also means the Russian has achieved 21 victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in that event previously this season.

His counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to doubt if his ability to play at the highest level was concluded.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an better service.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent rescued four early-game chances in a close deciding set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner earned victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
